Press releases are designed to get you excited. This one from Lift Aircraft is no different and I only publish it here for two reasons. 1. Warren Buffet is not backing Lift Aircraft. He has a stake (a whopping 8%) in the company that has signed an MOU for 100 aircraft - Marubeni Corporation. These two companies have been collaborating over the past year - most recently in March when a Lift Aircraft made the first piloted eVTOL demonstration in Japan. (https://lnkd.in/eF_WqvBf)2. Marubeni Corporation has long been looking at the UAM market and Lift Aircraft was not their first MOU. In September 2021, Bloomberg published Marubeni's press release that they had signed and MoU with Vertical Aerospace that included a pre-order option for 200 aircraft. (https://lnkd.in/eT9F-mui)The real point is that Marubeni Corporation is very interested in becoming a leader in the Japanese AAM market. That they have included a vehicle primarily designed for UAM and another that is primarily designed for recreation and tourism tells you that they are casting a wide net. I would expect them to look for company with a regional eCTOL next (perhaps Eviation or Electra). It is important for Lift Aircraft to solidify the partnership with sales (albeit contigency sales) to ensure a footprint beyond their Expo 2025 demonstrations.#aam #liftaircraft #singleseatconsulting
