Today, I received an unexpected and delightful surprise in the mail, a certificate. To some, it might just be a piece of paper, but for me, it's a validation of a significant life and career decision. Initially, joining a vast organization like CommonSpirit Health felt daunting; I wondered if my efforts and contributions would go unnoticed. However, I've found that CommonSpirit Health along with all the wonderful people I work with, genuinely acknowledge both the big and small contributions made. In my experience the organization embodies transparency, accountability, integrity, and innovation—all of which are thriving here.My IT philosophy has always been to take all requests and instead of saying requests are not possible, I reevaluate and say why not or how. I've made it a point to focus on rethinking their needs and goals to find creative and innovative solutions that truly make an impact on our providers, staff, and patients. Time and again with perseverance I see where there's a will, there's a way. As long as I am working I will continue push the boundaries of healthcare and what we can achieve as an organization.

“We will create a system of health that exists at the intersection of social responsibility, science, and compassion- a system that will nurture both patient and provider, creating and maintaining good health for all, throughout all stages of life. Our system will set the bar for the transformation of U.S. healthcare into a fellowship that elevates the joy of healthy living for all of us.”As part of an assignment in my recent leadership class, we were asked to write our ideal vision statement; one that encompasses our values and goals and one that we would be inspired to work towards. This was my vision statement. After the class I got to thinking a lot about who I am as a physician, what my goals were when I started my career, and where things stand now. As I shared my vision statement with the class (who, by the way are all physicians as well), I heard a few small claps and looked up to see quite a few nodding heads and smiles. It was a significant moment for me. It was acknowledgement that our current system has lost its way and that many of us, who “signed up” to make the world a better place as doctors, are frustrated by the current direction that journey has taken. But it was also acknowledgement that there are a lot of other doctors out there who desperately want to see our system change for the better, and they are game to play a role in making that change happen. So take a minute today and ask yourself: What is your Vision statement?#change #healthcare #betterworld

WHAT VALUE DO YOU BRING?Once I was asked this question and maybe it’s just me that would feel like this because It struck a chord, sending me on a whirlwind of emotions, pondering the years and contributions made. But in a characteristic move, typical of YHWH whom I belong to, the one who wastes nothing. In that moment I decided to be better at whatever I do and sculpt my mark in a way that renders that question unnecessary.I took that stone hurled at me and fashioned it into a foundational cornerstone. It became a catalyst for my growth. You see, I love the work I do and this industry because every endeavour undertaken contributes to the ultimate goal: ensuring widespread access to quality healthcare and preventing diseases. While still navigating the paths within this field, one thing I've realized: finding someone as self-taught, intentional, and dedicated to their craft as I am can be a rarity. If you're seeking a team member who embodies these traits, reach out. I might just be the asset your team needs.#DedicatedProfessional #QualityHealthcareAdvocate #PublicHealth #21daychallengewithCoachMaverick

    Evolving Human Systems

I have spent 25 years in the healthcare industry, both as a practitioner and also as a business owner, creating new systems of care. I have seen and watched the evolution of the care model for a very long time. What I see now is that we are at a tipping point that everybody is recognizing. The way that we have done care, the framework we have used, and the methods we are applying are old, dying, and inadequate. In this talk I'm going to cover what the problems are with the current landscape of care. How the care system is still inadvertently creating harm. How there are great people in the system who are burned out and don’t know what to do. And how the way forward can be found within a new framework that centers vitality, honesty, and an evolutionary maturation lens designed to meet us where we are today.Come this Thursday! Link below

Sometimes, you don't even notice your own impact.(I know I don't)In healthcare, it's very easy to fall into the trap of:- Focusing on daily tasks- Chasing clinical targets- Striving for recognitionBut you overlook the crucial parts:- How your care improves lives- How your expertise shapes patient outcomes- How every single interaction here changes health trajectoriesEvery day, patients share their gratitude with me through:- Testimonials of their recovery journey- Messages of appreciation for my guidance- Stories of how our interactions made a difference(I'm reminded so often, yet sometimes I take it for granted)I swear, I need to cherish these more!So here's my advice to you:1. Pause. Reflect.2. Remember your patients' stories.3. Recall the impact you've made.4. See the lives you've touched.5. See that your dedication matters.6. See that patients trust your expertise.7. Rest assured all your efforts are worth it.(even if it's just one patient)And as a bonus:Look at your patients' smiles.(This part probably means "more" than 1-7)Look at how patients perceive you.Look at your own impact.I promise you...It's there.Keep making a difference, fellas. ❤️P.S. Repost this motivation ♻️

Create Your own Personal and Professional Narrative!Dear Colleagues Hoping you all had a great Memorial Day weekend. A couple of months ago I had the privilege of speaking to Graduate Students in Health Care Administration and Puclic Health. The topic was health care careers and opportunities. I hope to be posting on this over the next few weeks. During our Q&A the students had the opportunity to ask questions or make comments. A few asked about dealing with their boss or other colleagues who were difficult or finding problems with their work. Although performance is clearly an issue I stressed that all of them needed to create their own narrative. There are times where a difficult boss or colleague can bring your own confidence or self esteem down. This WILL NOT improve your performance. We all must give ourselves a “a Pat on the back” and createOur own narrative. This is estrmely important. Think about the times and moments that you have achieved goals and worked in projects that were successful. We all know our weaknesses but tend to focus on them too much. I suggest you list your accomplishments and develop your story. Don’t let others do it for you. Create a Great DayPaulFor more on this check out my website at PDVHealth ConsultingOrEmail me at Paul@pdvhealth.comThank you to all who have served or are presently serving our Country.
