I’ve also heard of “Snakebite” which is a Guinness and a Hard Cider
Michaelon January 22, 2010 at 1:58 PM
Probably, Guinness + Two Brother’s Red Eye Coffee Porter = Black Eye (This could get crazy…)
Matton January 22, 2010 at 4:27 PM
Any experience with the Black and Blue? The other ones sound great except the cider, but the Blue Moon and Guinness just doesn’t sound good to me.
Tomon January 22, 2010 at 4:56 PM
The Black & Blue is good…at least worth a try. Finishes light and the way the two beers blend is cool to watch.
Meganon January 22, 2010 at 6:25 PM
I used to really like the Black Velvets and Snakebites, but haven’t had one in a few years. May need to order one up soon!

Just rocked the classic Guinness & Bass with buddies after work at Coogan’s Saloon on Wacker in the Loop. Man, nothing beats the original Black & Tan combo…

This combo would be magical if you served it lukewarm, methinks…
Noelon January 23, 2010 at 1:35 PM
Also, if you mixed a Red Ale and an Oktoberfest, you could call it “Red October”.
Noelon January 23, 2010 at 1:43 PM
And another I just thought of: Guinness + Boddington’s! What would you even call that? Armageddon?
Tayloron January 23, 2010 at 4:00 PM
Man. Guinness and Boddington’s would be insane. So good!
Tomon January 23, 2010 at 4:26 PM
That would be interesting. I’m not sure it would look like a typical B&T though. I think you need a beer that is not nitrogen pushed to compliment Guinness. I want to try it though…
Tomon February 8, 2010 at 2:49 PM
Guinness + Bud Light = Bud Light w/Guinness. I just threw up in my mouth a little.

Celtic Threesome: I just created it last night on March 5, 2011. Three layers. 1/3 Harp, then 1/3 1/3 Smithwicks, and topped off with 1/3 Guinness. It tasted great. The Harp and Smithwicks mixed a bit, so the pour needs to be worked on.

Had a Dublin milkshake last night, (Guinness and a shot of TIA Maria) which is pretty good but a bit expensive!
Went back for seconds tonight and did a pint of Guinness with a shot of black sambuca … Different… Not unpleasant but would be interested in someone else’s opinion on it….
But a name??.. Black Sambo?… sorry, not the most “politically correct ” name I’m sure but seems to fit well considering the ingredients!

Addition and comment:
Guinness & Guinness Blonde – Black & Blonde
The original Black Velvet was Guinness & Champagne. What has become black velvet was actually termed Poor Man’s Velvet (Guinness and cider – any cider/not specific).
Now with the loss of Bass except in the UK I understand. The original (Black and Tan) is replaced with a number of things that aren’t the same.
Frankly my favorite was Guinness and John Courage.
