Updates from 2023 and 2024- see below.I’ve lived exactly two blocks away for eight years and haven’t shopped here in years. I shopped here for about five years when I first lived here and I finally realized it wasn’t worth the convenience *at all*. It wasn’t just one issue, one time, it was many issues over many years, and repeat issues that never improved.I’ve shopped at grocery stores all over the country, and this is the worst grocery store I’ve ever had the displeasure of shopping at. And I’ve lived in over 20 places, so that’s saying a lot!Issues:-grossly overpriced (higher prices than even Whole Foods on many items)-filthy floors-major stocking issues with lots of items out of stock on every aisle (were talking like 30%-40%), at all times of day-broken freezer doors-loads of missing price signs all over the store-freezer lights out-carts littering the parking lot-long lines + confusion about where the lines even are because there are NO signs or floor marks indicating where to stand in line-poor selection of beer and wine-high cashier turnover (big surprise)These issues all existed WELL before the pandemic so management cant blame the pandemic for the chronic problems.I drive well out of my way to shop anywhere else, and life is so much better as a result. I’ve also saved a substantial amount of money, and have better, newer, fresher food that lasts longer by shopping elsewhere. It’s totally worth the hassle and inconvenience.PLUS, I rarely have to wait more than a minute in line at any other grocery store in the area- TJs, Whole Foods, Ralphs, compared to waiting an eternity in the long lines at this Vons store.Updated to add: had to return to this store in June 2023 and I see nothing has changed or improved. Large swaths of stock are still sold out on every aisle, the floors are still disgustingly filthy, the lines are still long, the parking lot is still littered with shopping carts and the prices are still outrageously high. And the aggressive solicitors were also right in front per usual again. Don’t shop here if you don’t want to be guilted and hassled every time you walk in and out. The last guy I after I said “sorry I don’t have time”, saw yelled at me “come on man! This will only take five minutes!”I really hope that Ralphs HQ reads these reviews and decides to open a new store nearby. Maybe then Vons corporate would finally do something about this horrible grocery store.Finally- the last time I checked these reviews a couple of years ago they had an average 2 or 3 star rating. Now it’s 4 something. Look at how the majority of 5 star reviews magically appear shortly after every 1-2 star review, and how most of them have no text. It’s clear to me from reading the reviews that Vons corporate is getting people (mystery shoppers?) to artificially inflate the reviews. Why not just fix the store’s problems instead????Update January 2024: had to return to pick up a few things. Nothing has changed and ALL the issues I listed above remain, except the prices are even higher now than they were in 2023. It boggles my mind that I now save money by shopping at Whole Foods.Seriously, shop here and record the prices you pay, and then shop at Ralphs, Trader Joes or Whole Foods, and compare prices. And then add up the annual difference. I think youll be shocked. In a city where everything is already expensive, if you can save hundreds or even thousands per year by driving an extra ten minutes to get to a decent grocery store- *do it*.This part of the city is a food desert except for this Vons store, and they know it, which is why they dont care enough to make any improvements.Vons corporate will never improve this store until a new grocery store moves to the neighborhood. In the meantime, the smartest thing you can do is drive an extra 10 minutes to a store that has a) everything you need, b) has lower prices, c) is cleaner, and d) is a lot less stressful to shop at. Its WELL worth the extra drive time, trust me on this.
Closing the deli before 7pm on any night is ridiculous. Not everyone is over the age of 65 and eats dinner before its dark...Edit: Changing to a 1 star because imthis location never has everything I need. Avocados are always either rocks or mush. Most of my recipes go sans an ingredient because shopping here. I shouldnt have to go to two stores just to get what I need for normal meals...Also, put an item limit on self checkout!
I just want to thank Vons and all the employees this Thanksgiving and many more to come !!!! The young lady tatrina with the blue eyes went and beyond her job . What a great lady . Lorraine and Billy for your kind warm hearts .all employees from our family to yours happy Thanksgiving we are forever grateful !!!! From Alex& Monica Contreras !!!!🙏
This Vince store on Adams Ave in Normal Heights is my absolute favorite. The reason is the incredibly kind and helpful staff who work there. One person, Ali, stands out. He consistently greets me, answers questions, and assists with any problems. I remember a time when I needed a product from a high shelf, and Ali noticed and immediately came to help. On another occasion, I was searching for a product, and once again, Ali was there to provide assistance promptly. Ali, your dedication is greatly appreciated. Thank you for being the best version of yourself!
My only complaint is that they never stock whole bean coffee. They have am entire section that is packed with coffee but it is almost entirely pre-ground with only ever one, maybe two, varieties of whole bean which are always either super premium, or completely sold out. Its ridiculous. What do we have to do to get a reasonable stock of actual coffee beans?
I come to this store on a regular day basis and there is always long lines managers standing around chit chatting while the one register that’s open has the line down the aisle upon asking the manager if she can open a new line simply walked by me with no care for me in the world asked her again and said that she couldn’t do nothing about that I had to wait in line like every had too thanks SIONARA for the bad customer service and thanks to Antonio for coming to the rescue and opening another line
I wish we had a different grocery store in the neighborhood. Or that this Vons was at least the same quality as the one in North Park.My main complaint is eggs. Ive gotten a batch with bad eggs in it too many times even though they are not expired. Free range egg options are very limited and often out of stock and the ones that are there are overpriced. Also the worst quality produce and meat out of all grocery stores around here. A couple of weeks ago I got pork chops here that had no flavor.I choose to commute to other neighborhoods to get groceries even though this store is walking distance from me.
Great for grabbing a quick snack but not the place to go if you have any dietary concerns or are looking to get through the check out line quickly. I spent over 45 minutes waiting in line to check out. All of the cashiers working were working fast but there were not enough checkout stand open to handle the amount of customers in the store. The second issues I had with the store was how narrow the aisles were, there were a few times I had to back out of an aisle completely as passing was not possible.
Whenever I am with my boyfriend I go to this store. I love it here, they have a lot of vegan options here, and vegetarian options as well. Since, its the holidays it very packed, but thats okay. I just wish they had more vegan nog for Christmas. Oat Nog is my favorite. Customer service is great, and fast. The self check outs are a great thing to have if Im only there for a few things. A lot of varieties in alcoholic beverages, and many more things. Me, and my boyfriends favorite chips here are Juanitas chips they are just right with the seasoning
The deli takes way too long to serve you lunch (quick meal, chicken, salads to go) I’ve been there many times and it’s the same thing. I went there yesterday for lunch and there was only one person working and three people ahead of me. I had to grab a pre-made sandwich because otherwise I’ll be there for 10-15 mins by the time I’m served (it’s happened before way too many times). If the deli is truly there to serve the customer then you need more personnel-especially during lunch time (11:30-2) so we can be in/out in less than 5-7 mins; remember, most people get 30 mins for lunch and we can’t be spending almost half of it waiting to get it.
I go here quite a bit because it is next to my house and literally every time I go shop there, I inquire another customer with a dog. Not a service dog, a pet dog.It is unhygienic and especially when they sit in the shopping cart. Unfortunately you still have to send letter to their corporate office because there is no way to leave feedback online.A dog does not belong in the grocery store.Update: saw another dog in there yesterday, seems like the corporate outreach didn’t do much good. Oh well.
Can’t be bothered to staff enough employees for more than two open registers on a Sunday. Ridiculous. Standing here in line to check out and the lines are literally down to the end of the aisles, 15-20 people deep. Two other registers are up there but they only have two open. This isn’t an off day either, it always seems to be like this. Won’t be coming here again, plenty of other local stores that do it better.
Went in the Vons hoping I wasnt gonna regret it because it really seemed busy and was concerned about the 6ft social distance but I have to say that most people were very mindful and when I was going to check out there was one lane and a Vons staff person who was sending you to the next line open. It was very organized and went pretty quick for as many in line. The staff was very organized. Definitely recommend.
Update: after living in the area for almost a year, this location is constantly understaffed and always has outrageously long lines. Management needs to address this and stop understaffing, seriously you have the customers so stop being cheap with your scheduling, improve your work environment, and do whatever you need to retain workers etc.Convenient, close, and very friendly staff. Seems to be a smaller Vons than my old neighborhood as they dont have as big of a selection and all the items I get at other Vons but its very close and every employee has been helpful and friendly.
I enjoyed coming into the store to to their great value on wine. They have a 10% off promotion when you purchase six or more different varieties of wine. Overall it was very clean and spacious. I found a very delicious cake. The fruits and vegetables or very fresh. I bought oranges mangoes pineapple and strawberries and they all tasted fantastic. I recommend this location as it is very convenient and affordable.
This is my neighborhood Vons. I shop here often and know some if the staff. This location is great, the staff are friendly, the shelves are nicely stocked. They regularly go through the produce to make sure everything is fresh. Billy, the store manager, is very nice. Hes always available for customers and greets everyone with a smile.
Worst Vons ever!!! I have shopped at this store for over 10 years and things have gone from bad to worse! First, the parking lot has been somewhat redesigned and repaved. However, with the addition of new spots for the likes of ubereats and instacart there is no room for regular shoppers. Second, the shopping carts are just about ALL in terrible condition (undriveable)!!! Additionally, they have taken away the smaller compact carts which I and many others really liked!?! Third, theyve been through about 6 store managers since I began shopping there. Now this wouldnt be so bad if there was some positive changes!!! However all Ive seen was unhappy employees unhappy management and even worse, terribly lazy security at night (total clock watchers who were more concerned about their phone (football scores) than any level of actual store security), what a joke!!! Forth, terrible store layout which is in dire need of a major reorganization and modernization of the appearance inside and out!!! Also, the store is NEVER stocked!!! I know, w/ Covid there are bottlenecks in the distribution of just about all goods and services. However, this still is no excuse for the absolute lack of a majority of staple items that all the other Vons and other grocery stores seem to be able to keep in stock just fine!?! Finally, most if not ALL employees are really unhappy with their jobs (just talk to someone in the deli department. Wow, what a mess!!!)!!! Actually unhappy, unhelpful and downright rude (w/ the exception of 2 of their managers 1 day and 1 night who are OUTSTANDING!!!).So your best bet is to avoid this Vons at all costs!! Go to the one on 30th and El Cajon Boulevard!!! Its a much larger cleaner facility with helpful employees and well stocked shelves!!! Youll be much happier with your shopping experience, I promise!!!
Its difficult to find many things here because many things are sequestered in corners etc. for example the soap if I hadnt thought to look where the medication was if I hadnt shopped here a long time ago I might have not been able to find the soap. see I had trouble finding peanut butter crackers as well I had to be creative and get peanuts. 😊 thankfully they were at a price I could afford. then while I was trying to price some breakfast foods my shopping cart was gone and a worker thought all my groceries were go back because I took a long time to come back for my cart and the reason that was was there were people blocking and all I needed to get into and I couldnt get in with my cart. I understand you cant help size of the store and youre all doing your job but it was a stressful time. everybody shop here at your own risk LOL.
Uptight staffVeg dept./good. Heading on asiles .....very confusing..poorly laid out, mixed up store.I am local so can navigate...bring your compass......Also really poor meat dept...unhelpful butchers,plural....if you can find one..PsMeat prices are listed by the pound...you CAN purchase 1 or 1 1/2 pound of anything..they ALWAYS say no..really poorly run store. .The one star is simply because they are close by and I can buy dinner for my family.
This place is hit or miss. Sometimes you can find everything on your list. And then you cant even find Arrowhead Drinking water. Especially the 2.5 gallons. Always plenty of Distilled Water. Just no drinking water. FYI: Distilled Water is not good to drink. And Purified Water doesnt taste very good. Spring Drinking Water. Good choice always. And do I bag my own groceries now 🤔 Baggers dont separate items and things are crushed or smashed. And why pack the bags so heavy? They really should know their customer. I have spent a half hour or so re-bagging. In the parking lot . After I have spent over $200. Every week.
I bought some items while on a day trip down from LA for a gathering, but ended up not needing some of them. Unopened and from like 3days ago. This store REFUSED to accept a return or refund claiming they just changed their return policy to only returns/refunds for purchases at THIS store. This is ridiculous! For this to be a huge chain, refusing qualified item seems very unprofessional. I now refuse to give them any more business. How inconvenient of an experience :(
Came here middle of the day to shop. The entrance is very narrow and theres a number of solicitors waiting there. The inside is very small, cramped, and crowded and not the cleanest, but it gets the job done. Id give it 4 stars but I saw a live co*ckroach chilling on the floor...
This Vons is in my neighborhood and convenient, but I only come here when I absolutely need the convenience. I have to say some things have improved here since COVID, probably because of stricter health regulations, but I still have a bad impression of this place. Some of my issues include:- I purchased expired meat and cheese on two different occasions (I look now... And thats sad)- the frozen food tastes like it was left out to thaw and then refrozen- Ive fallen from slipping in a puddle of water (maybe how the frozen food thawed)- the fried chicken is always tough and overcooked (same with rotisserie)- I dont even attempt the deli counter anymore as Ive been ignored or in a long wait because other customers are being ignored- employees are always stocking and in the way... Like during the busiest time- lines get backed up- mopping aisles while youre in it (but somehow theres still water on the floor)Sigh.I have to say, the cashiers are wonderful. They are the one good experience. And I can only imagine what all of the Vons employees are dealing with. I think all of the issues stem from poor management.
Apparently Kevin the store manager was having a bad life. Extremely rude when asked if they had a product and if that wasnt bad enough, he was checking out a female customer and telling another male employee how much he liked her type in front of another female customer. He seriously should not be managing a store. Ill try another store.
Nearly every time I go and use the self-checkout, I get harassed by an employee.Ive had the old man come in an rummage through my items as I was attempting to pay. Ive been asked to pay for already bought items again. I was denied extra bags, until I showed them the receipt, when I bought and selected three in the menu.Asode from that, the people at the Deli and Starbucks counter were super friendly and helpful. Its just a shame that I dont always get to interact with them when I visit.
I ABSOLUTELY love this vons very friendly clean great products alot of good savings if you pay close attention, its never crowded there is always good parking! My favorite thing also is that they always have sanitizing wipes for the cats outside! Over all a good place to shop in piece the lights arent annoyingly alarmingly bright like other grocery stores too
We usually do most of our shopping at Sprouts (better vegan and healthy food options at lower prices), but Vons is still our neighborhood grocery store! Whenever we need something last minute we come here. Good craft and local beer selection. Clean, safe, and friendly service.
Come here often and it is on the same level of standard as the rest. The check out lines can be long since there are only 1 line for the 15 items or less and 1 line for the other checkers but they do not have a lot open. No self checkout at this location currently either. Busy during peak hours, relatively quiet at off peak hours.

This is a smaller Vons and therefore has a smaller selection than others in town. There is a full service deli, fish counter, pharmacy and a Starbucks inside. And the staff is always very friendly and helpful. Im happy to have them in my neighborhood, its great to have an actual grocery store that I can walk to and not just a corner market.
This Vons is smaller than other Vons Ive been to. Yet every time I come here, surprisingly Im not waiting FOREVER in line like other Vons. Everyone is friendly & nice. Im starting to find more & more new products. Just the other day I found some non-dairy ice cream, which I hadnt seen here before. They also have a clearance section that had crazy good deals. Make sure to download the Just4U app...you get extra great digital coupons.
This location of vons was crowded the last 3 times I visited it. Bustling with shoppers mostly in masks. Its kind of cramped inside and so when there are lots of other shoppers the atmosphere is quite chaotic. There is a Starbucks inside which also felt crowded and so I skipped on my iced coffee with multiple in line and one bar keeper. Also the Starbucks takes up valuable real-estate which also adds to the cramped and chaotic nature of this location
I’ve been going here for 3 years and love many of the employees BUT literally the slowest check out ever. Seriously. I just waited in line for 20 minutes. It’s absurd how slow some of the cashiers move especially when it’s obvious just how many people there are waiting in line. Add more cashiers!! Very disappointing.
They just added 4 self checkouts to the Vons on Adams Ave. I personally like the personal interaction with the cashiers but I get self checkout (self everything) is the way of the world these days. Good selection of brands and items, produce is fresh, returns are easy and staff is helpful.
This is my favorite vons to go to. It’s super clean, friendly and fast. I specially love to go to the deli and bakery. Very fast n clean service. And in your way out make sure to go through self check out cuz you more than likely will bump in to Ms. D and she will have you laughing n smiling in no time. Mimd you I live closer to another vons but I prefer to drive to this one.
This is the worst Vons in San Diego. I have lived all over San Diego and never experienced what goes on here. Never enough registers open, the clerks are extremely rude and make sure you check your receipt! I am constantly finding that they are charging me more than what they list it as. This just happened to me and I tried to point it out to the cashier and he was so rude and stormed away from the register when I had offered to go check myself. I tried to call and speak to a manager and they said none are available. I asked for a call back and they said no you can call back in 15 minutes. What the heck? This is the closest one to me and from now I am going to avoid at all costs. The WORST.
First time to review a grocery store lol, but I dont think Ive seen such a lacking Vons. This is walking distance from my house, but Ill be driving to the Ralphs in Hillcrest for a better selection. Its fine for basic needs like milk, chips, or meat, but the kosher and Asian selection is almost non existent... Chicken Tikka masala for dinner??... Not from this location! With that said, the staff here have always been awesome and friendly!
This Vons always keeps me coming back, though their prices might be a bit higher they more than make up for it with their deli and hot meals section. Plus if you are a club member they have some great deals, Rottisserie chicken anyone? Whole chicken under five bucks, they got Costco beat... and thats why I keep coming back. All around good customer service, store is clean and if you look around you will find some good deals.
Its just weird some of the stuff they carry compared to not. How do you have Coconut, cup 4 cup, almond, chickpea flour but theres no semolina? I realize it has nothing to do with the grocery stores, way deeper than that. But when did chicken get so expensive? Ridiculous
Make sure you have the right amount of items to get the discount price because you will not be reminded. Thecustomer service in the deli is outstanding. The people there are all nice. Not being able to purchase or renew bus passes is a burden to many disabled and elderly customers. We are told to go to Albertsons which is far when youre disabled or elderly
The grocery store staff are probably just fine, but this rating is almost fully contingent on the fact that the outside security staff there is attentive, professional, and friendly. Its a slightly sketchy neighborhood, but you instantly feel safer because of their presence.
The one good thing about this Vons is the location, but it is dreary, cramped, and in desperate need of a remodel and/or expansion. The grocery assortment has not kept up with the changing demographic of the neighborhood. You’ll find a better selection of higher quality foods in Hillcrest and Mission Valley.
So I just moved into the neighborhood about a month ago. And I have been to this Vons less than a hand full of times. This time when I went i was standing in line and this friendly face asked me to follow her. I did. She took me to the self check out area. I thought oh she is right I could use the self check out. But NO that is not what she meant. She ran me at the self check out booth. And she offered if I needed an ice. And gosh darn it was she spot on. I almost forgot. She bagged it and I was on my merry way like that. I love this woman with my whole being. She has great vibes and aura and just very friendly and beautiful. Her name was .....omg Dewana I think. Medium sized beautiful African american sister of god. Im a huge fan of her natural humanitarian interaction. Thank you maamYour biggest fan.Casper Wilson
I shop here because its so close to where I live, but since Im about halfway between this Vons and the one in North Park, Ive started going to the NP location more often than not because their selection is so much better than this store. Its pretty disappointing that they have such a limited selection here. However, for the basics, this store is just fine.
I was shopping quickly in this Vons today and I was just amazed bu an employee there. Her name is Bea (sp?). I had grabbed the last two loaves of french bread, kale and two other random things. I zipped up to the self check out. I plopped the kale down and stared at the screen. Bea knew I was wondering how to scan it and she quickly showed me that there was a barcode on the stem. Before walking away she saw my two sad looking bent loaves of bread, grabbed them and said there were fresh ones in the back. I almost fainted. FRESH bread. She was back in one minute with the bread. I was still in shock as I left and when I got to the car I realized I left my cell phone on the checkout counter. I turned around and she was 1/2 way to my car. Excellent customer service is so rare these days and I felt that I needed to express my gratitude to her. Thanks Bea!
I live near Vons in normal. Heights. Excellent store and very very friendly diverse environment. I Always find ehat im looking for. Most of all. The vons staff i rate excellent for customer service . the von staff always remembers its customers. Vons staff patrick at cashier stands out as a excellent excample of public relatipns and is people oriented focus and always makes everyone feel at home and positive. Patricks positive influence and energy rubs offon the rest of vons staff which makes excellent vons staff. The vons manager is quick and efficent when it comes to meeting the needs. Of the customer when there is a problem. Excellent hard working staff dedicated. To make customers like myself make it worth going to vons
I love that I can order anything of the menu and know that I wont get glutened! Its a little on the pricey side but after attempting to make raw food inviting and tasty at home, I know its worth the price. I had the mango wrap today and it was delicious. I mainly go for the pies though as they are to live for! Beware the pies are heavy on nuts. I believe the pie base to be cashews and almonds.
Im updating this review to 4 stars because of their awesome staff. Processed food selection rants remains. Vons, you guys didnt earn 4 stars your people did. Love the folks in the bakery! Its Vons. The brand Ive been coming to since I was little boy ages ago. Ive always respected the opportunity grocery stores provide in work for the community. Known as good well paying regular Joe jobs for a long time. I know this has been a struggle for their corporation so I do want to highlight what makes this Vons great. The staff at Vons are amazing. I come here at least once a day on average and they are always smiling, friendly, and keep the place running well. The bakery can seem a little chaotic at times but everything is typically well presented. The grocers are all obviously hard workers and the check staff is very friendly. I even like the security guard who smiles knowingly at me, the guy who always has a backpack on in the isles. Im sure they checked the cameras on me but its nice to know Im not being creeped out by the staff. There is a big sign out front which highlights local products. Awesome job guys and this is giving that extra star from me. This is what we need more of. The deals I get on canned goods, occasionally on produce, and occasionally on protein can be competitive. Competition in this area is pretty fierce with some independent stores offering real bargain pricing then surrounding area health stores like Sprouts or the new organic mart that just opened in Kensington (I will be shopping at both). The thing that drags me down is the sheer volume of processed goods. I spent at least 30 minutes staggering around the dressing trying to find one thing without soybean oil. Whether or not you think soybean oil is harmless, would you pour it onto lettuce with vinegar? Everything else is full of corn, corn syrups, or some other derivative of a mass processed food product. If Vons had a better selection of reasonably priced local and craft wares Id give them 5 stars. Ive always respected them as an employer so I hope theyre able to evolve and adapt.
This is quite possibly the worst layout of any grocery I have ever visited. There is inadequate signage. The placement of products defies all logic. The layout of the checkout ensures there is no way to queue and no way to make it past those who attempt it. Finally, the people who work here seem frustrated and annoyed. Then again, I would be too if I had to work there.
Looked up and down isles left not finding everything i needed. The cashier tried to scan a butter that was slightly creased on the bar code. Didnt try to scan it or type in the numbers. Told me i had to go to get another one in the back of the store instead of asking an associate. Then told me i had to make sure i check the barcode on every item i shop for. Tried to talk to me about my personal life while my boyfriend went to grab another butter. And then told me it sucks that i have to walk to my car in the rain.
37 minutes to check out. 3 registers open and lines wrapped around the isles. Im not talking about the early days of covid-19, Im talking about the day after Christmas. The rush should have been anticipated, and even if not, something should have been done to alleviate the absurd lines. Very disappointing experience at a usually decent enough Vons

I missed out on a $5Friday special. They very nicely gave me a rain check for 2xs the quantity. Im thankful. The store on Adams ave is full of nice cashiers.
Generally i like this place. Conveniently located and almost never teeming with a huge crush of ppl. Only gripe is that both times I went to purchase fruit tarts from the bakery, they were nothing more than lemon tarts with fruit slapped on top. 😐 pretty annoying. But they have all the essentials and friendly staff and what not.
I absolutely despise displays that trigger childrens compulsion for toys. When I go to the grocery store I really would love and appreciate getting in and out as efficiently as possible. But when my kids sees a toy and has a breakdown when Im just trying to get some milk it really sucks. Out of sight out of mind. Help some parents out by not allowing the toys to be on display at the entrance.
This little is too small for what its trying to be. It stocks too much of some things (more than a dozen varieties of Triscuit but only one of cocoa, for example). As a result shelves are often empty of what you might need. Management constantly moves things around the store making it hard to find what you want. (Did they MOVE it? Are they out of it? Have they stopped carrying it? ) Chronic problems with card readers. Etc. Etc. Etc.A friend once referred to the place as the Vons of last resort. Ill say not even as a last resort ever again.
Keeps getting slower and slower and slower over the last few months. Now with the introduction of self check at Adams Avenue ts hellish. 1) I dont work for Vons. Why do I have to spend 30 minutes checking myself out and bagging? OH... yeah, Vons doesnt want to employ people who demand to be payed anything at all. The self check is incredibly hard to use. That said, when I diverted to the self check because the regular lines were all going too slow the lady who ended up in my spot was only about 1 minute faster than me checking out my own groceries (easily 30 minutes due to constant errors and a VERY paranoid scale. so. 2) DUDE..... if you dont trust people to bag their own groceries DONT HAVE PEOPLE BAG THEIR OWN GROCERIES! you are doing a cost calculation to avoid employing people. go one direction or the other.
Price on many items have doubled. They no longer carry larger size of non food items but the half sized package is same price as larger items. I have been shopping here for over 20 years but I will go to Rite Aid, Sprouts, Trader Joes and the Farmers Market from now on.The employees are great it is not their fault, they have terrible owners, Albertsons.
Poorly managed. I come in here several times a week because I live about 2 blocks away. The sale items are constantly sold out by evening and forget about getting a Rotisserie Chicken after 4:30. It to clear there is no recovery plan for the shoppers in the evening, blow outs everywhere. They are constantly understaffed and management is never around when the lines get long. I am currently in a line of 20 shoppers and there are only 2 registers open. The other line has more than 20 customers.
They are so helpful at this Vons. The clerks and management team has resolved two issues for me in the last few months. Although it is not the closest to my home. If you have problems with your vons card they are the best. Also tech savvy. Thank you Adams Avenue vons team!
Its a local grocery store so a review isnt really necessary, but I do wish they did a better job of keeping things in stock. I go every week on the same day and its a crap shoot as to whether they have everything I buy every week - like fa*ge Yogurt or the type of milk or bread I buy...
Deli department people have no respect for customers, therell be eight of them working back there and then theyll tell you hell be with you in a few minutes as I been standing here for 20 minutes waiting, this happened to me three times. Now I shop elsewhere weathers better customer service
The people here are amazing. Love going here over the other one which is closer to me. Its in a small neighborhood that no one has really heard of. So its not going to be like other bigger vons or as stocked, So people need to stop comparing this vons to others. It has the basics of what you need when.Tho I am not a fan of how the store is organized.
Pros: Huge variety of items, quality brands, neatly organized.Cons: Filthy restrooms. Toilet seat broken, toilet seat bottom splashed with drops of feces, trash can packed and with bunches of paper on top of the lid, soap dispenser cover missing, dirty floor, not smelling clean, paper on the floor, door closer mechanism broken, so the door will be slammed right after being opened. A total opposite of the store floor.
Grocery store with somewhat decent club program. In exchange for your information, Vons will give you mildly valuable discounts on their products; usually by way of a reduced pricing on the purchase of more than one item. This Vons on Adams Avenue has a great location central for Normal Heights and Kensington residents. The staff is decent but the parking lot is an accident waiting to happen. If that concerns you, I suggest parkin in the Rite-Aid across the street.
Overpriced. Sale items are usually not in stock and non-sale items are often shelved over the sale tag. Managers are usually unhelpful and often surly. Vons only stays in business because they have a supermarket monopoly in the neighborhood. I have no idea what Vons all these glowing reviews are for, but I find it hard to believe they are for the one on Adams.
Decent at adhering to COVID, staff rarely if ever present on the floor, I like seeing elderly and ethnic staff here (non-discriminatory), tries to be well stocked, feels pretty clean, decent to navigate layout, parking is an issue and shoppers are jerks but what can Vons do about that 🤷
Friendly, attentive staff. But still..... its Vons, or Albertsons or Kroger or whatever it has corporate manifestation it has morphed into. These stores need to go. Youve had your run, overcharging for questionable foods for too long. Welcome ALDI, welcome European clean food. Vons is a dinosaur that needs to go the way of the combustion engine and coal mining.
Was just there yesterday. 99 cents for one single conventional lemon! You can drive less than a mile to North Park Produce where they are 2 pounds for a dollar.Sodas are only sale when you buy 5 2-liters, or usually 3 12 packs. I dont know who drinks that much soda in bulk. And they dont give you the sale price on just one, you have to buy the whole amount. The only thing this place has going for it is being located in a highly densely populated residential avenue. They use psychology by marking things up astronomically to offer a great sale price Prices are insane ($8 for regular bacon, 50 cents for one lime). If you come here late at night invariably there will only be one checkout open and a long line. Always someone chain smoking on the front seating area or a can collector openly drinking by the front door.
Ok...enough is enough.Basic stocking of food is not a luxury skill for a supermarket. This store is constantly out of basic items like...bread...milk...etc, etc.I mean, come on! Really?I have been forced to live with this for years now and it is idiotic. Milk? What kind of supermarket runs out of milk? In this day and age of computerized usage records and purchase trends, this is the best this store can do?I dont even really blame the store manager, since it is obvious that Vons views this location as a wasted effort and invests nothing in it.Well done, Vons. Keep up the lousy work.
Thank God for considering and employees and public restroom the workers are kind also most places follow you or people who look ruff around the edges making it uncomfortable experience and akward but they dont here its casual vibe thank you also dont forget to try something from deli delicious variety and dont be afraid to ask to sample something so u can try something new or to better make decisions for your pallet. Good day thank you from the blonde pony tail nirvana looking dude THANKS
The deli never ceases to amaze. I didnt know it was possible to work so hard...at being busy to avoid the customer. Or that you can have people there all the time, yet on two separate occasions not have a single loaf of bread made for the sandwich section. The most surprising fact is that another vons only a mile north is a million times better. You would think they could send someone down or something.
If you want to take advantage of Vons ..Go Fridays...they post all these deals that are very Worthy...my Favorite place to Shop Groceries...I try Diferente places..but ..I end Up coming back...here..Clean...good products....☝️and they have Starbucks inthere...🤷♂️What else can you ask when you go grocery shopping 🛒🛒
This is one of the worst grocery stores in San Diego. The customer service is the pitts. On a good day there are long lines. On a bad day you may have to wait 30 minutes to 1 hour in line! They are always short of staff, and they have an annoying habit of closing registers so they can go on break.
The employees of the Adams Ave Vons Grocery Store, in Normal Heights, San Diego, CA, are the kindest, most helpfull people, you could ever meet. All the specialty departments, from the meat dept, bakery, floral and pharmaceutical staff members are the best at what they do. This also includes everyone in between. This Vons store is your favorite, friendly, local, neighborhood store all in one !!!.
